Is there actually any difference between the terms notebook and laptop?
In the beginning, portable computers were called a “laptop”. In an attempt to differentiate themselves from the still very heavy models at the time, Toshiba were the first to introduce the term “notebook”. These days there is no difference any more between the terms “laptop” and “notebook” so the two terms can be regarded as synonyms. It therefore doesn't matter anymore which word you search for. Notebooks are becoming increasingly popular these days and are more and more often taking the place of stationary desktop PCs on desks and in workplaces.
