Intel - computing power for every situation

Intel is primarily known for its high-performance processors. The big player based in Santa Clara, California, also produces semiconductors of all kinds, such as chipsets, network cards, flash memory and embedded CPUs. With a market share of around 80%, Intel is a giant when it comes to PC processors: mobile devices are now almost exclusively equipped with Intel CPUs. In 2019, Intel achieved an annual turnover of 72 billion US dollars and a profit of around 21 billion US dollars with around 110,800 employees. This makes Intel one of the largest companies in the world.

Intel's success story
The company's success story really took off with the x86 architecture at the end of the 1970s. Over the years, Intel has developed various series based on this architecture, such as Pentium Dual Core, Intel Core 2 and the current Intel Core i series. With the Core i series in particular, including the i3, i5, i7 and, more recently, i9 models, Intel covers a very broad spectrum for different requirements. While the i3 models with their high energy efficiency are particularly suitable for multimedia applications, i7 and i9 models offer extensive computing power for performance-hungry computer games or scientific applications thanks to a high number of CPU cores and a very high clock rate.

Intel's CPU series and everything you need to know about their areas of application:
From netbooks to complex server environments
Intel also has the Atom series in its range for small netbooks, which are characterized by very efficient energy-saving functions and therefore consume very little power. They are still sufficiently powerful for simple applications such as Internet research. The Pentium series covers the performance spectrum between the Atom processors and the i3 processors. It is very suitable for office applications.

Like the Atom CPUs, Pentium CPUs are characterized by low power consumption, but deliver significantly more performance. Compared to the i3 processors, however, they are usually equipped with fewer CPU cores.

Intel is also strongly represented in the server sector with the Xeon series. Did you know that Intel offers server CPUs with up to 68 CPU cores? In certain multitasking applications, such processors can develop their full performance and provide considerable added value. In conjunction with corresponding mainboards, the computing power can be scaled up accordingly by using several CPUs, so that even very complex server landscapes can be implemented with Xeon CPUs.

Regardless of whether you are putting together a reduced laptop for energy-saving office applications, a powerful gamer PC or a server landscape: With Intel, almost all options are open to you.
