Motherboard

The motherboard, also known as mainboard or system board, along with the processor is primarily responsible for the speed of your PC. It is the backbone of every computer and an essential component if you want to obtain an outstanding performance.

The optimal connection

The motherboard is the most important point for connecting all the required components of a PC. The memory, the processor, the graphics card, the sound card, and other hardware can be found at the individual slots. The PCI standard allows further accessories to be connected. The motherboard also determines what drives can be connected and the number of available USB ports. The main memory can be significantly expanded on most motherboards. The installed chipset serves as an organizer and ensures the individual components work together smoothly. The term “motherboard” is apt in this case: Like a mother, the motherboard ensures all the children, the individual parts, are well behaved and trouble-free operation can be guaranteed. When the data traffic flows unhindered and fast between the individual components, the PC will be able to satisfy the most stringent requirements and achieve a high computing power. The processor can only achieve its maximum performance on a suitable motherboard.
